อีกหนึ่งโชว์จาก HAVE YOU HEARD? ในปีนี้ ขอเชิญพบกับการแสดงครั้งแรกในไทยของอีกศิลปินอินดี้โฟล์กป๊อปที่กำลังเป็นที่จับตามองสุด ๆ ในช่วงที่ผ่านมาอย่าง Alice Phoebe Lou เจ้าของบทเพลงสุดไพเราะทั้ง “Glow” “Open My Door” “Lose My Head” ที่จะมาพบกับเราในวันที่ 26 พฤษภาคม 2024 ที่ DECOMMUNE
Alice Phoebe Lou นักร้องนักแต่งเพลงมากความสามารถจากเคปทาวน์ แอฟริกาใต้ ที่เริ่มแสดงดนตรีเปิดหมวกมาตั้งแต่ช่วงที่เพิ่งย้ายมายังเบอร์ลิน เยอรมนี ในปี 2012 ซึ่งนั่นไม่ใช่สิ่งที่ง่ายหรือน่าสบอารมณ์นักเพราะเธอต้องรับมือกับผู้คนที่จะคอยดูถูก ล้อเลียน และยังต้องแย่งพื้นสำหรับเปิดการแสดงกับนักดนตรีคนอื่น ๆ แต่เธอก็อดทนทำมันต่อเพราะนั่นก็เป็นวิธีที่เธอจะอยู่รอดในเมืองใหญ่นี้ นานวันเข้า เธอกลับพบว่าอันที่จริงเธอสามารถเขียนเพลงและทำให้สิ่งนี้มีความหมายหรือจรรโลงหัวใจให้กับผู้คนได้ เธอจึงผันมาเป็นศิลปินเต็มตัว ก่อนจะได้ร่วมทำเพลงประกอบภาพยนตร์ต่าง ๆ และเริ่มได้แสดงในงานโชวเคสมากมายทั้ง TEDx หรือ SXSW ที่ทำให้เธอได้รับโอกาสจากค่ายเพลงต่าง ๆ แต่เธอปฏิเสธไปเพราะอยากเป็นศิลปินอิสระมากกว่า

Alice Phoebe Lou, a talented singer-songwriter from Cape Town, South Africa, embarked on her musical journey as a busker upon moving to Berlin, Germany, in 2012. This was no easy feat, as she had to contend with people ready to criticize, mock, and compete for performance spaces with other musicians. Despite the challenges, she persevered, recognizing it as a survival strategy in the bustling city. Over time, she discovered her ability to write songs with profound meaning, touching the hearts of listeners. Transitioning into a full-fledged artist, she contributed to soundtracks and performed at various events like TEDx and SXSW. Despite tempting offers from music labels, she declined, choosing the path of artistic freedom.
After releasing music in 2016, Alice Phoebe Lou delved into introspection, gradually translating her experiences into songs that express genuine emotions. Starting with 'Orbit,' where she proved her ability to evolve into a true artist, and continuing with 'Paper Castles,' which garnered attention as an emerging artist. In the album ‘Glow,’ it was a period for her to reflect all kinds of challenges and navigate both positive and negative feedback. While in ‘Child’s Play,’ she experienced vulnerability from her musical journey but nevertheless, she filtered these emotions, shaping them into raw materials for this album.
People may have remembered her as the youthful, carefree artist who gradually matured through various experiences depicted in each album until the fifth installment, 'Shelter.' Although her songs continue to reflect the simplicity, beauty, and lyricism of life, she can no longer be the same young girl. Now, at the age of 30, she views the world through the highs and lows, becoming a point where she can coexist with the unpredictability of life without much distress. She has grown more confident, eager to share her beliefs at this stage of life, hoping that people will accept her for who she is today
